1. Pick 10 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

3. We danced on the beach, kissed on the beach and dot, dot, dot.  Mamma Mia!

4. ...there is a painful difference between the expectation of an unpleasant event and its final certainty.  Sense and Sensibility

5. I use them for smuggling. I never thought I'd be smuggling myself in them. This is ridiculous.  Star Wars Ep. 4:  A New Hope

6. Oh, why is the whole town suffering from this dreadful misapprehension that I shall marry him!  Persuasion

7. I'm a hopeless dancer, but this looks like you just screw in a light bulb with one hand and pat the dog with the other.  Bride and Prejudice

9. Why don't you kiss her instead of talking her to death?  It's a Wonderful Life

Yes! Of course, that's one of your faves, too, isn't it?
Monday, May 16th, 2011 03:13 am (UTC)
*grins* indeed it is... in fact I almost used that quote.
Monday, May 16th, 2011 03:14 am (UTC)

Monday, May 16th, 2011 03:12 am (UTC)
By Grabthar's Hammer, how could you forget? :D
Monday, May 16th, 2011 03:11 am (UTC)
You're right on all counts!
Monday, May 16th, 2011 03:03 am (UTC)
#5 is Star Wars (ep 4)!

#1 is soooo familiar, and I know I know half the others. *tries to jog memory* *fails*
Monday, May 16th, 2011 03:13 am (UTC)
Yes to Number 5!

That soooo familiar feeling is what I've had to quotes on other people's journals.

I think #7 is from Bride & Prejudice.
And I think #6 is from Persuasion.

Yes to both!
Monday, May 16th, 2011 03:24 am (UTC)
Anne Elliot said #6 in Persuasion. I'm afraid that's all I've got since odogoddess already took Galaxy Quest!
Monday, May 16th, 2011 10:01 pm (UTC)
You're right!
Monday, May 16th, 2011 03:47 am (UTC)
#2 is totally The Princess Bride!

#7 is Bride & Prejudice - LOVE that movie.
Monday, May 16th, 2011 03:53 am (UTC)
B&P is fabulous, isn't it?
Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 01:52 am (UTC)
It's one of my guilty pleasures. :D
Monday, May 16th, 2011 10:02 pm (UTC)
Right on both counts.

You really ought to be able to get #8, too, and that's the only one I have left.

You could get it... or [profile] elise_wanderer hint, hint, hint

Casablanca. Of course. ~headdesk~
Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 01:48 am (UTC)
Well, I didn't choose one of the more famous quotes...
Monday, May 16th, 2011 07:22 am (UTC)
4. Sense and Sensibility. (I love that scene. I was just telling Phil about that scene!)
Monday, May 16th, 2011 10:03 pm (UTC)
Yes! It's a lovely scene between Eleanor and Mrs. Dashwood.
Monday, May 16th, 2011 07:28 am (UTC)
To continue from #1. "Its motivation! Its motivation? It doesn't have motivation. It's a rock!" Galaxy Quest (a family favorite.)

#4 is Sense and Sensibility. It's from when Elinor has heard that Edward is married ... erroneously as it turns out.
Monday, May 16th, 2011 10:03 pm (UTC)
Yes on both counts!

("That's the trouble with you, Jason. You were never serious about the craft!")

::dies laughing::

I love Galaxy Quest. It's just so bloody funny, and Rickman is brilliant in it. He does the most brilliant job of showing how a line can be delivered for maximum impact, from disdain to heartfelt meaning. Sigh. He's such an excellent actor.
Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 01:50 am (UTC)
Yes. It is funny, and being a bit of a Trekkie, I really enjoy the satire.

I almost think this is my favorite Rickman movie. That look in his eyes when he is getting ready to attack the alien that shot Quillek is just awesome!
Monday, May 16th, 2011 08:01 am (UTC)
3 - Mamma Mia

7 - Bride and Prejudice
Monday, May 16th, 2011 10:04 pm (UTC)
Ah, someone who apparently shares some of the same guilty pleasures as I do. :D
Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 07:05 am (UTC)
Why be guilty? Let it all hang out, I say!
Monday, May 16th, 2011 09:51 am (UTC)
6: Persuasian.
Monday, May 16th, 2011 10:04 pm (UTC)
Yep!
Monday, May 16th, 2011 11:32 pm (UTC)
I know #8, I just can't quite remember. It's a tertiary character .... argh. You know, of course, it'll come to me in the middle of the night. I just KNOW this.

Wait!

Wait.

It's ... blast ... I don't remember the name of the character, but I'm pretty sure it's Casablanca and it's about Rick. But it's not Claude Raines who says it. It's that nasty German Commandant, I think. With the clipped diction.
Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 01:52 am (UTC)
Right, it is Major Strasser!

Given how "quotable" Casablanca is, I didn't want to pick one of the obvious quotes. "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, why did she have to walk into mine?"
