I can now admit that I wrote Book Club for lotrangel17. I had a complete blast this summer rereading The Lord of the Rings as a Hogwarts professor and writing about falling in love over literature. I need to thank morethansiriusand sshg316for doing a great job as my alpha and beta readers. Ladies, you really made a difference in this story. I couldn't have written it without your feedback, encouragement and brainstorming skills. I'd also like to thank lady_rhian who beta read the first two chapters for me (before having to stop in order to get married). You gave me a lot to think about in your feedback that I carried with me throughout the rest of the story.
I wrote a little bit on the SSHG fic I started planning several months ago based on Jane Austen's Persuasion. Yes,mollyssister, this is the fic I promised you in the morethanmolly community many, many moons ago. I think I may be able to get past the block that I had encountered. I think I will be working on it very slowly, but it feels good to be working on something. I hadn't written anything in months before about April. I was kind of afraid I would end up back in that state after the pressure of being so far beyond the deadline with the Exchang piece.
And in the back of my mind is a bit of plottiness for the second installment of my Severus/Minerva trilogy that I started in severusbigbang. I have some revisions to make to Secrets Revealed to make the next installment work.
Don't anyone get too excited. I don't think I will actually be publishing any of these things anytime soon, but it feels good to be stretching my brain a bit.
My drabble at dyno_drabbles placed as runner-up this week! Here is my pretty shiny...
Here is my drabble. I'm married to an identical twin, and this drabble is loosely based on real life. Con crit and comments gratefully received. The prompt for this drabble can be seen here.
( Cut to spare f-list... )
I haven't written anything in quite a while, so I was looking for something to get going again. I signed up fordyno_drabbles this month. I figured three drabbles with a deadline would do me good. It's Fred/Hermione month; I figured a new ship would challenge my imagination. By the way, the first round is posted, and the voting deadline is Friday at 11:59 p.m. EST. So I will just encourage you to take a few minutes to vote in the first round.
As I have been working on writing the drabble, I've read a few Fred/Hermione stories just by way of research because I'd never read in this ship before. It's a pretty rare pairing, but you can tell there are some people out there who have a great deal of affection for this pair. There aren't as many Hermione/George fics and I was curious about that. What is it about Fred that would make him a better partner than George?
Very early into my HP fanfic reading, I read my first SS/HG story and was hooked. I like SS/MM and I've been known to read some Dramione and Lumione. There is so much fic in this corner of the world that I haven't really had time to look elsewhere. It's been interesting reading Weasley-based fanfic. It's a different branch of the HP fanfic world, and some different fanfic norms seem to apply.
So that's what I've been pondering this week and was just posting to get other people's outlooks on this. The HP fanfic world is a very big place...
SQUEEE! The stories and art, crafts, etc. have posted in celebration of Severus Snape's 50th birthday. I'm really looking forward to reading and reviewing!
My offering is located here: http://severusb4.livejournal.com/11228.
They're not big on allowing concrit on the site, but if you have some for me, let me know here. It's the longest piece I've written, and I am open to improvements.
After almost a year (which is a horribly long time for such a short story), I've finally finished my Walking Club drabble series. This last "chapter" is longer than the first two parts combined, and I feel pretty happy with it. If you like silly fluffiness, you will find it posted at the following places:

Sadly, the stomach flu has been making the rounds in my family this past week. Today is my day to have it. On the positive side, I've been assured that the worst should be over in a few more hours. Unfortunately, I don't even feel much like reading. And I've been thisclose for about 10 days to finishing my Walking Club drabble series, but due to sickness and general busy-ness, I haven't been able to put the finishing touches on it. *frustrated sigh*
While I don't have as much writing output as others, my very first bits of fanfiction writing do qualify for this round of thesshg_awards . If you like humorous drabbles, you may like these.

In house remodeling details, we've got some of our kitchen cabinets installed. Hooray! It's starting to look like a kitchen!
And I managed to do some yearly unit planning for my kindergarten class today. So I'm feeling a bit less stressed about that too. (On the other hand, we have a prospective student open house in one week, and my room is no where near ready to be seen by the public...)
