I want to post my Exchange piece to some archives, but my summary is too bland.  For the Exchange, it read:  Hermione attempts to bring Muggle appreciation to the staff at Hogwarts through Muggle literature.  I've never posted a poll before, but this seemed like the kind of thing a poll would be good for.[Poll #1802908]

I can now thank [livejournal.com profile] dragonsinger954for my lovely crocheted banner, Complementary Talents.  I've already told you the things I love about it, so I will just thank you again, my friend, for such a lovely gift.

I can now admit that I wrote Book Club for [livejournal.com profile] lotrangel17.  I had a complete blast this summer rereading The Lord of the Rings as a Hogwarts professor and writing about falling in love over literature.  I need to thank [livejournal.com profile] morethansiriusand [livejournal.com profile] sshg316for doing a great job as my alpha and beta readers.  Ladies, you really made a difference in this story.  I couldn't have written it without your feedback, encouragement and brainstorming skills.  I'd also like to thank [livejournal.com profile] lady_rhian who beta read the first two chapters for me (before having to stop in order to get married).  You gave me a lot to think about in your feedback that I carried with me throughout the rest of the story.

A new round robin drabble challenge began this week at [livejournal.com profile] hgssroundrobin.  It's called "Under the Bed."  Wouldn't you like to know what is under the bed and what Hermione's mother has to do with it?  (So would I!)  I've just posted my offering.  I hope you'll go take a look.  So far, we don't have a lot of people watching this community.

My SSHG Exchange gift posted, and my gifter chose one of my art prompts!  I never expected that would happen, and the result is beautiful and expertly crafted.  I am beyond excited!  Go and squee at once!  http://sshg-exchange.livejournal.com/266251.html

I guess writing for the Exchange must have jump-started the Muse.

I wrote a little bit on the SSHG fic I started planning several months ago based on Jane Austen's Persuasion.  Yes,[livejournal.com profile] mollyssister, this is the fic I promised you in the [livejournal.com profile] morethanmolly community many, many moons ago.  I think I may be able to get past the block that I had encountered.  I think I will be working on it very slowly, but it feels good to be working on something.  I hadn't written anything in months before about April.  I was kind of afraid I would end up back in that state after the pressure of being so far beyond the deadline with the Exchang piece.

And in the back of my mind is a bit of plottiness for the second installment of my Severus/Minerva trilogy that I started in [livejournal.com profile] severusbigbang.  I have some revisions to make to Secrets Revealed to make the next installment work.

Don't anyone get too excited.  I don't think I will actually be publishing any of these things anytime soon, but it feels good to be stretching my brain a bit.

I ganked this from [livejournal.com profile] bambu345.  And it's partially true.  The thing is that the last time I took it, I was Elizabeth Bennet.  Looking at the questions, I think I score fairly high as Anne, Elizabeth and Elinor Dashwood.   I won't complain if I get to hang out with Ciaran HInds.  ;)

I am Anne Elliot!

Well, my parents live in southern Illinois...  That's about as far south as I've ever "lived."

Muggle vs. Magical -- What if Hogwarts had a club to introduce Muggle things to the students?  What things would Muggles do just as well at or better than the Wizarding World and why?  At what things would the Wizarding World excel?  For example, Muggle vs. Magical cheesemaking?  Chocolates?  Wine-making?  Literature?  Theater?  Entertainment?  Medicine?  Other ideas?

If I am British and I want to remind myself to be composed, to get a handle on my emotions, what would I say?  In the U.S. I might tell myself to, "Get a grip," or "Get a hold of yourself."

I usually score very close to even with Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.  I've never scored as part Gryffindor before...  I wonder what it means.

Your result for The Sorting Hat Test...

Huffledor

You scored 53% Order/Chaos, and 60% Moral/Rational

Morality with an orderly/chaotic split. You've got a fixed idea of morality, you know that for sure, but your view on regulations waffles. Rules are rules, but you're also able to see when it's really more of a guideline. Your strengths arise from your balanced view of order that allows you to carefully choose strategies for furthering your causes; your weakness is the fact that, given the success your strengths are likely to give you, you may not be receptive to the idea that you are not absolutely in the right.

The 4-grid I used to determine this is as follows:

 ChaoticOrderly
MoralGryffindorHufflepuff
RationalSlytherinRavenclaw

I've managed to write about 500 words of my Exchange fic.  At least it's a start.

Have a good weekend, everybody!

Since the SS/HG Exchange mods suggested it, here is some more on my likes/dislikes:

I read and enjoy any or all of the following in SS/HG fic:  humor, drama, hurt/comfort, mystery, romance.  I like plot, characterization, and romantic build-up more than pr0n.  I still enjoy some of the well-loved (some may say well-worn) early challenges of SS/HG fiction, such as marrialge law challenge, yenta challenge, time-turner fic.  I like new spells and thinking about how magic might work in the Harry Potter world.  I enjoy secondary characters and don't mind OCs.  Happy ending, please.  :)

That's not an exhaustive list.  I can read and enjoy most anything if it's well-written.  However, I'm not crazy about dark fic, ghost fic, or portrait fic.  I prefer a story that does not have extreme Ron-bashing, although I've enjoyed stories with Ron-bashing--I just prefer it not to be emphasized.

As far as art, I'm not crazy about the Alan Rickman/Emma Watson combination.  I prefer a couple who is closer together in age.  You could use one or the other of them or neither of them.  I'm not crazy about more abstract forms of art or anime style.  I like blues, greens, purples, reds.

Between this and my sign-up comments, I hope this helps with figuring out what I like and dislike.  I will appreciate the time and effort put into whatever gift I receive.

Edit:  I should mention that I'm a former English teacher, so I can't help but notice your grammar and punctuation usage.  A mistake here or there is no big deal, but it would help me enjoy your story more if I didn't have to pull out my quill and red ink.  :)  Sorry--occupational hazard.

1. Pick 10 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

Everytime I try to look at SS/HG Exchange prompts to tease the Muse, I just get overwhelmed with the choices.

Therefore, I've decided not to look at the prompts until I get the official word of "my" prompts from the mods.

I wonder if I can stick to that decision.  :)
