Today was our 100th day of school for the year.  Kindergarteners get really excited about it.  We did a number of fun activities which they really liked.

The whole thing almost fell apart though because of an unexpected snowstorm.  We were expected to get 2 - 4 inches last night, which would have made traffic bad, but manageable.  I planned to leave in time to get there early so I could get special activities set up.  I had been home sick again yesterday, so I couldn't set them up yesterday.  Instead, when I walked outside this morning, I realized we had more like 6 - 8 inches of snow.  And it was still snowing about an inch per hour!  The roads were terrible, and it took me 1 1/2 hours to get to school (about 3 times the amount of time it usually takes).  In fact, I was actually 5 minutes late to school!  Aaach!

Fortunately, my principal watched the kids till I got there, and the students pitched in and helped get things ready so we could have our special day.  *happy sigh*

We have about 2 feet on the ground now. (Let's see... I guess that would be about .6 meters.) Next week it's supposed to warm up a bit and rain. Then we could have flooding...

Awm, nothing cuter than kids being brought to school and playgroups in their mittens and woolen hats :) My sister works in a playschool, and they had a massive snowball fight in the back yard. Several kids got a mouthful of snow! But they loved it. It's snowing heavily here too. Glad your day worked out - Happy 100th Day!

Thanks. Yes, kids look cute in their winter gear (until you have to help a whole bunch of them get dressed in it at the end of the day. Just kidding!)

I can imagine - apparently there were a lot of tears over mixed up scarves and kiddie gloves at the end of the day today in the place my sister works!

I remember when I was in kindergarten, each student was asked to bring in 100 of something for the 100th day of school. I really wanted to bring in 100 books but my mom, quite rightly, said I wouldn't be able to carry 100 books. Then I wanted her to bake 100 cookies. That got a big "No." I think I ended up bringing in 100 business cards. Boring!

I had my students bring in 100 of something, too.
